How Do I Place a Notice?

If you want to create a notice within a notice board, you have to be a registered member of Local Ads. If you are not logged in yet, you will be asked to log in during the process of creating the notice. Don't worry if you are not registered yet, it is free and quick. What's the difference between notices and classified ads?

Currently you can place two different types of listings in Local Ads, classified ads and notices. The major difference is that classifed ads are classifed by category, and thy are included into the main catalogue of Local Ads. This means, they are alwys public and can be found by anybody using the search. Notices, however, are included only in the board they are placed in. They will not be found by the common search. So, a notice will only be seen by somebody who already entered the notice board.

Create the Notice

To place a notice you nee to use this form that will help you to enter all necessary details. Next complete the form entering all information you want to display for your ew notice.

PLease fill the form elements with the information you want to display. Mandatory elements are marked with a red star (*) and have to be filled. Don't worry if you make a mistake or want to modify these informations later, as you can edit your notice details as often as you like. When finished, click the Create button, that's it! Sounds simple and it really is.

The notice board creation form has been designed to be extremely simple to use, however, it also allows HTML to be used when creating the store's pages which means that there are few limits to the design you can come up up with!

The Notice in Detail

Lets take a look at what information can be entered in slightly more detail.

Community Board	This allows you to choose the board you would like to place your notice in. If you used the Quick add function from within a board, this will already be set for you. PLease note that some boards have a password protection. You will need to know the password to enter notices to protected boards!
Category	Other than classifed ads, where categories are very detailed, notices just nedd to be assigned to one top level category. This will help others browsing the notice boards to find notices easier.
Notice Title	Enter the title of your notice here. Although you can use up to 80 characters, we advise you to keep it short as the notice board overview page will only display the first 25 characters of your title.
Short Description	This description will be displayed in the board overview. Sum up your description briefly to give others an idea what your notice is about. The limit for the short description is 250 characters. HTML and JavaScript are not allowed and will be removed before the description os displayed. Advice: Put long URLs into the long description and keep the words short. The short description will be displayed with relative little space, so long words might get truncated. Also, links are not clickab and cannot be coppied from the short description. So if you want users to click on your URL, put it into the details page!
Long Description	The long description allows you to describe your listing in detail. PLease feel free to use HTML any amount of characters you need. The longdescription of a notice will only be displayed once a user clicks on your notice to view the details page. A hint for Mozille/Firefox users: If you cannot type anything the WYSIWYG editor, please click on the SOURCE button, enter a couple of characters, and click OK. The field will then be editable.
Picture	You can upload one picture per notice. This will be displayd as athumbnail on the board's overview page and larger on the notice details page. The maximum display size is 150x150 pixel. Larger images will automatically be scaled down.
Notice Style	You can choose how to display your notice in the board overview. Use Image & Text If you want users to see your shortdescription and a thumbnail of your image. Use Image only if only the image should be displayed. Users then will have to enter your notice to read the short- and long description text.
Duration	Select the running time of the notice in days. When this duratiion is expired your notice will be closed. However, you can restart the notice manually if you fell you would like to diplay it longer.
Proceed & Finish	Finally, you might want to preview the notice you just created. You an preview and alter your notice as many times as you want, until you are entirely satisfied with the result.

Starting a notice

Some board moderators choose to approve all notices placed in their boards. If your notice is placed in an approved board, you will not be able to start it directly. You can only forward it to the corresponding board moderator for approval. He/she will then look at your notice and either add it to the board or reject it. In both cases, you will be informed through Local Ads Email system about the decision. Please check your "MyAccount" section regularly for any new messages.
